was a majestic tour and experience. Accompanied by Catherine, we cannot thank
our hosts
Liz
and Tom Coates enough for their warmth and generosity and providing us with
accommodation
and friendship during our stay.
Not
to mention the great gigs organized by Liz. We can’t thank you enough and look
forward to our return
in January 2011. Christchurch and above to
the Marlborough and Golden Bay districts, we just loved it all.
I
hope to get some updated photos on the website soon.

NEW CD BLUES AFTER
MIDNIGHT- DERWINJONES (JACK&GEOFF)

The
end of 2009 saw the creation of a new album with my old mate Geoff Jones.
Here
is the inscription inside our cd:
“Jack Derwin and Geoff Jones have been making music jointly and
separately
for years and years. Time was right to do this and it was
fun to make more music again.
It was easy,
relaxed…even the frantic bits fell into place. So here it is recorded on Jack’s
equipment at the Baulkham Hills studio (Suite 1) over a few days
in 2009.
This has a bunch of
new songs, learned just prior to recording, and some favourites
of ours
as we do them now. Settle back and hear how we sound
live, 2 guitars, 2 harps, 2 vocals and
a stomp box. Acoustic and raw, oh… and a few overdubs
like bass, some electric guitar, some
extra vocals, a tiny bit of banjo and congas, via Jack’s
lawnmower grass catcher, as well as
some rhythm eggs….aggressively laid back! That will do
nicely.”
You
can hear a few samples from the CD on this site. Samples 5, 8 and 10 are taken off our
new CD. Other samples are a mixture of studio
and live recordings over a short and long
term period. They include solo and duo
recordings with friends and talented musicians
plus some other stuff with Geoff and “Jack Cat
Blues” (the band).

Catherine
is now representing Jack Derwin, and we look forward
to a busy year
in 2010. We also will be having a launch, two
or three or four for “Blues after Midnight”
Will announce where and when shortly.
Lastly,
many thanks to those people who have supported my recovery back to health
from a motorcycle accident in June, 2009. This
explains the absence of gigs on the site
the past 6 months. Music mode is about to
begin again, stronger and better than ever!
